Spirit Aerosystems
Barton International Group's ethnographic research provided Spirit Aerosystems with key success factors to Spirit Malaysia's manufacturing plant. Team members outlined and presented a well-researched strategy for how these factors could be transferred to other plants. The goal was to advance Spirit’s efforts to create a unified, Trans Global corporate culture. By working closely with multi-billion dollar companies, members developed their professional skill sets in high-impact, real world scenarios.
BIG employees’ attention to detail was key as the team analyzed numerous surveys to find common themes and messages that provided insight into Spirit Malaysia's success. Supported by specific testimonials, the information presented helped Spirit Aerosystem employees understand how to translate Malaysia’s success to other manufacturing plants. Through our work with Spirit Aerosystems, members of BIG were able to work on developing and presenting findings to key decision-makers.
Team members developed new skills: how to strategically approach a project, develop a consultant-like mindset, and navigate in a foreign country. The project offered the group our first international client. A group of 20 BIG employees traveled to Malaysia for two weeks for research. As students, employees were eager to embrace the cultural norms of Malaysia and tackle the assigned project with enthusiasm. The employees of Spirit Malaysia were extremely cooperative with our research efforts and answered all of our questions through individual interviews, focus groups and job shadowings.
This project marked a milestone for BIG and we are grateful for the opportunity to have partnered with Spirit AeroSystems and travel internationally for the first time.
